Example 2: Percentage decrease of a measurement between previous and current submission
This guide will demonstrate examples of Calculated answers applied.
The percentage decrease between previous and current submissions

Let’s create a formula to calculate the percentage decrease in a measurement between the previous and current activity submissions. To build the equation effectively, we’ll start with a basic structure and add specific components step by step. The goal is to calculate the percentage decrease using a formula that incorporates subtraction, division, and multiplication.

1. Begin by selecting the Multiplication operator
2. For the first multiplicand, insert the Division operation.
3. Click into the dividend field of the division and insert the Subtraction operation.
4. Let’s now configure the components of the division formula:
- In the dividend, replace both the minuend and the subtrahend with the Linked question operations.
- Set the divisor to the Linked question operation as well.
5. Fill in the Activity and Question fields for all three Linked question elements in the formula:
- Activity: Select the activity containing the measurement question.
- Question: Choose the specific measurement question, such as a weight entry field as in this example.

6. Assign the appropriate Position values for each element in the formula:
- Minuend (in the dividend): [-2] to reference the previous submission.
- Subtrahend (in the dividend): [-1] to reference the newest submission.
- Divisor: [-2] to reference the previous submission.

7. Finally, return to the Multiplication formula. Set the second factor to 100 to convert the result into a percentage.
