PHQ-9 (Patient Health Questionnaire-9) equation

Let’s visit the the PHQ-9 (Patient Health Questionnaire-9) calculation as an example to illustrate how the logic of building calculations work. To create an equation effectively, start with the basic formula and add specific components step by step. The PHQ-9 calculation works by assigning points to specific answer options and adding up the total points across all nine questions in the scale.

1. Start by choosing the Add formula.
2. Use the Switch function to be able to assign points to the answer options of the PHQ-9 scale questions.
3. Add the Linked question element to the header of the Switch function - click into the originally added Constant/Question field and select Linked question operation instead. In the field Activity select the Engage survey containing the PHQ-9 questions.
4. Similarly, in the Question field, select the corresponding question from the PHQ-9 scale.
5. Add three answer choices and assign a value to each.
NB! The answer choice Not at all will be covered by the default 0 points, so you only have to assign the following points:
- Several days - 1
- More than half the days - 2
-Nearly every day - 3

6. Repeat this process for all the questions that are included in the PHQ-9 scale.
